It started out as just something fun to do. The first year, the weather was bad, but a few die hard pilots still made it in. The second year, the weather held up and a lot more planes made it in. There were all types of planes from experimental to twin-turbine executive. The most important thing was that all had the love of flying and meeting new friends. This will be the sixth year for the fly-in and things will never be the same at Hobart, Oklahoma. Coordinating the Fly-in with a host of other Memorial Day events, the fly-in is expecting a large number of planes, including executive jets, military, experimental, powered parachutes, and a host of other general aviation aircraft. This year will include the A-26 Lady Liberty and a WWII C-47. The War Birds over Oklahoma RC club will also be here in force with some of the finest examples of WWII models in existence. The FAA will by holding a free Human Factors seminar and here will be a free Pancake Breakfast from 8:30am to 10:30am for all pilots and crew flying in to Hobart. The cost for all others is just $5. Be sure and stick around for drawings for free fuel to take place at 10:30am. Prizes will also be given for oldest aircraft and furthest traveled. So if you want to be part of a growing and exciting event, fly into Hobart Regional Airport (KHBR). By the way, bring plenty of energy. There are over 15 other events going on that day. Powered Parachutes: Did I mention that this will be a combined fly-in with a host of Powered Parachutes? Well, it is, and if you talk real nice to one of the pilots, you might find yourself in the sky riding a powered parachute! Free Airplane Rides: Kids 12 years old and younger when accompanied by an adult. Adult airplane ride are $20. Charter flights, lessons and extended airplane rides are also available. Hangar Dance: At 6:00pm there will be a hangar dance featuring a 16 piece band that will be playing music from the 1940s. So bring your sweetheart and dance to some of the music your father and mother danced to during the Second World War. Lady Liberty: A true veteran of the war in Europe, this WWII A-26 still bears the scars acquired while tangling with the Luftwaffe. This majestic war bird will be on display and will be open to the public during the fly in. Pancake Breakfast: Free Pancake Breakfast from 8:30am to 10:30am for all pilots and crew flying in to Hobart. The cost for all others is just $5. FAA Seminar: The FAA will by holding a free Human Factors Safety seminar starting at 10:00. It's free so come on and another wings safety point to help reduce your insurance cost. At Cost Fuel: Be sure and fill up while at the fly-in since fuel will be marked down to the airports cost. RC Fly-In: War-birds over Oklahoma will be flying and displaying some of the finest WWII RC models any where. This is a must see in it's self. C-47: The WWII parachute reenactment team will be here with their C-47 and will be making live drops. This is something that is really worth watching and make sure to you take the time to meet some of the airborne reenactment team members while your at it.
