Talk of the Town was formed in 1988 as a volunteer organization from the University of Oklahoma community to keep alive the Glenn Miller tradition of the golden era of the big bands and to bring entertainment to the Oklahoma City area. Since then they have evolved into the premier ballroom dance band in the state and today play for most of the ballroom dance clubs and organizations in Oklahoma and surrounding states.
With over 2700+ tune repertoire of big band arrangements and the ability to recreate the “Glenn Miller Band” sound with five saxes, four trumpets, four trombones, piano, bass, drum, guitar, and vocalists it is no wonder that their specialty is recreating WW II USO shows complete with US Army Air Corps khaki uniforms, songs, skits, and dances.
A guest appearance is also expected by Grammy Award winner and Music Hall of Fame inductee Sherman Andrus formerly of the Imperials, Jordanaires and Elvis Presley Band.
There is no admission fee for this event. Consumption of alcohol will not be allowed at this event.
